House Rules

DO’S AND DON’TS

Fires

We live in a fire-wise community. Fires can be a major hazard, as the vegetation(Fynbos) burns very quickly. Here are a few tips:

  • No fires except in the braai/barbeque facilities (no fires are allowed on the beach)
  • Always exercise caution when lighting fires or avoid if the wind is strong
  • Never leave the fire unattended
  • Always ensure the fire is properly extinguished when you have finished
  • Do not dispose of cigarettes, ash or hot coals in the vegetation

Alarm (if applicable)

  • Always put the alarm on when leaving the property unattended
  • Put the alarm on at night while sleeping, if possible
  • PLEASE NOTE: Damage/loss suffered due to the alarm not being switched on, when required, may result in a claim against the tenant.

Security

  • As above, please ensure property is locked and alarm (if applicable) is on when necessary
  • When socialising etc. on the upper levels of the property, ensure all doors and windows on the ground floor are locked

Baboons

We share the environment with our local baboon troop. Although they may look friendly, they are wild animals and the following pointers should be adhered to:

  • Do not harm, feed or interfere with the baboons. It is an offence and carries a fine
  • Do not try retrieve something that a baboon has taken from you
  • Lock all windows and doors to your house and car, when unattended
  • Don’t leave food visible to baboons
  • Baboons are intelligent and opportunistic and will take advantage of any opportunity to enter a property and steal food, damaging the property in the process
  • PLEASE NOTE: Damage caused by baboons due to negligence will be the responsibility of the tenant. Charges will be applied for cleaning or replacement of broken items

 Rubbish

As Pringle Bay is situated within a nature reserve, it should be kept clear of any litter at all times:

  • Rubbish bags should never be left outside, even if placed in a bin. This is a temptation to baboons and other wildlife
  • Rubbish must be disposed of at the waste disposal area at the entrance of Pringle Bay – a fine will be imposed for failure to do so

 Electricity and Gas

  • Electricity can be topped up by taking the card to the dedicated pay points. (At the general store)
  • Call if you have questions about the Gas

Lights and loud noise

Bright lights and loud noise negatively affect the neighbourhood and fauna:

  • Outside lights should not be left on all night
  • No loud music is allowed after 11pm

Septic Tanks

  • Septic Tanks are utilised throughout Pringle Bay
  • Nothing else but toilet paper is to be flushed down the toilets

Furniture

  • Furniture should be left in the same position as on arrival.
